O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, how yellow are your needles.
We rescued you from the tree lot,
But once we brought you home, you began to rot.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, how brown are your branches.
Yes, it's true...a week after Jason left I noticed that our tree was not drinking as much water (hardly any at all). We were so excited to get a real tree this year that it was quite a bummer to realize that I had a dying tree on my hands and no Jason to help! The bottom half of the tree looks the most drastic, as the needles really are yellow and brown, and while the top half of the tree is still greenish, it is much thinned out. Of course, it doesn't help that Lucy can't resist wagging her tail by the tree which makes the needles fall off in mass quantity! Yesterday, I drove down to San Diego to pick up Jason (yay for coming home four days early!!) and today he took all the decorations off the tree, hauled it into the backyard, and cut another 4 inches off the trunk. Hopefully it will last for one more week so we can open presents by our first tree!
