Poor Lucy...

I picked Lucy up from the vet's Friday afternoon...Poor Lucy! She looks very pitiful because she is swathed in lots of bandage wrap and has to wear a big plastic cone. She was really stiff on Friday, sat down gingerly and didn't want to attempt to lie down so we could tell that she was extremely miserable : (

We got in some parenting practice Friday night because Lucy kept waking up every three hours with her restless behavior and her whining and moaning. Since Lucy hardly ever makes any noises (we've heard her bark twice!) we knew that she was in quite a bit of pain...and we were in pain the next day due to our lack of sleep!

The vet didn't think Lucy needed the huge cone/collar but since Lucy ripped the stitches out of her knee the morning after her surgery, they decided the collar was for her best interest. Since the bandages make Lucy's wounds look a lot worse than they really are, whenever Lucy and I go out for short walks, all of the neighborhood kids come over to ask what happened. One mom ever wondered if she'd been hit by a car...

Thankfully, we go to the vet tomorrow to have the drains removed and then in two more weeks Lucy can have her collar taken off when the stitches are removed. She is finally starting to learn how to navigate with the huge cone but she does get frustrated when she gets stuck trying to go through doors or work her way in between the sofa and coffee table. She is also feeling more comfortable and can sit and lie down much easier. She's even been caught trying figure out how to manuver around the cone so she can get at the stitches!

On Friday, Jason and others in his squadron flew to Colorado City for a day trip. Here are some neat pictures he was able to capture during the flight:
